Frances Tiafoe will play Arthur Fils in the Cincinnati Masters men's final after defeating fellow American Brandon Nakashima 7-5, 6-3 in the semifinals.[^4] Fils, 22, reaches his first Masters 1000 final.[^8]

Tiafoe has been here before. He lost the 2024 Cincinnati final to Jannik Sinner, and Saturday gives him a second shot at the title.[^6] Fils has not. The read here is that Tiafoe carries the experience edge in a final where his opponent is feeling his way into new territory for the first time.

On the women's side, Jessica Pegula ended defending champion Iga Swiatek's run with a 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 victory to reach the final.[^2] She will face compatriot Coco Gauff there, making it an all-American decider.[^7]

Pegula's win over Swiatek is the sharper result of the two semifinals. Dropping the second set before closing out the third against a defending champion takes nerve, and she found it.
